SALT LAKE CITY - They didn't want to take a number.
Early Sunday morning, unidentified suspects with a stolen forklift and dolly in tow broke into the Department of Motor Vehicles office in South Salt Lake and used the hardware to steal two fully loaded safes, police say.
Before they hit the DMV, a police spokesman said the suspects broke into a carpet business a half-block away to steal a forklift and pickup truck. They drove the equipment to the DMV, broke in and took the safes outside the building using handcart dollies, then loaded them into the truck with the forklift.
From there, the spokesman said, the burglars drove back to the carpet business where they unloaded the safes into a stolen cargo van and escaped. They remain at large.

A recently arrested Tokyo burglar's alleged misdeeds have been labeled crimes of gastronomical proportions, according to Gatsun! (September).
His eggs had to be boiled so they were firm, but the yolk would still be runny. He was demanding when it came to the meat and vegetables he insisted be placed atop his bowl of steaming noodles. As if it wasn't enough for the fickle gourmand we'll call Suzuki to force women at knifepoint to cook for him, he also robbed them as well.
Suzuki allegedly broke into the home of a 23-year-old Tokyo office worker late one night, stole 16,000 yen in cash and then handed her a packet of instant noodles before thrusting his knife at her and ordering her to cook him a meal.
While the terrified young woman cowered over the stove and obeyed Suzuki's instructions, he engaged in small talk punctuated by orders about how his noodles should be prepared.
Once they were cooked, he poured the concoction back into the instant noodles packet and fled.
Similar cases have been reported where a Tokyo burglar has forced female victims to make him meals, with 33-year-old Suzuki regarded as the prime suspect.
"Suzuki's mother died when he was young, so he's always had this enormous craving to eat food just how his mom used to cook it," a police investigation source tells Gatsun! "When he graduated from high school, he started working for a construction company. He frequently used call girls, who he would get to visit his home, then give them something extra if they'd prepare a home-cooked meal for him."
It's fair to say that a burglar who brings his own meal ingredients to a heist is a fairly rare occurrence, if not unprecedented. But there's apparently a reason for it, the men's monthly says.
When Suzuki was still a fourth grader, his female homeroom teacher visited his home and, feeling sorry for the motherless lad, whipped him up a bowl of noodles that tasted so good, he never forgot. His teacher's crafted cuisine then became his ideal "mom's home cooking."
"He really got into trouble when the construction company he was working for went broke and he was out of a job. He no longer had the money to ring-in for a call-girl, let alone pay them a bit more to cook for him," the cop tells Gatsun! "He told us that they only way he could ever get another home-cooked meal was to become a burglar and get his female victims to cook for him."

I wish I were 11 again.
Make it June 1990.
Before I knew first hand about a thing war.
Before I had to drive.
Before life went to hell.
Take me back to 1990.
I had it easy then.
The only boy that mattered to me then was Jonathan Knight.
Oh no, he wasn't Becky's today.
I knew all the words to "Step By Step."
Barbie was still popular.
She wasn't a taboo toy at that age.
Jackie and I were best of friends.
Forget a 3 years age difference;
All that matter was that we enjoyed each others' company.
Both having overprotective mothers didn't hurt, either.
Summer nights never ended; they lasted forever.
I could spend most of the day out in the sun,
Except the afternoon was hell and
The air conditioning was a treat.
Riding my bike around the block was a treat.
Walking to the Shoppette was a big deal.
Usually, it was just to get some Coke.
Cold Coke was the sweetest thing to my mouth.
Pumpkin was still young and he liked to escape outside.
He always smelled funny when he crawled under one of the
Buildings in the courtyard.
And don't forget the pool!
Pool time was free at Bragg.
The only bad part about spending the tailend of
An afternoon at the pool was the 10 minutes breaks
For chlorine treatments.
By the time you were warm and dry, the pool was ready
To play in in again.
Talk about shock to the body!
I still can recall all the boys hunting June bugs down.
I still can recall the patches of clover in our playground.
I still can recall the freedom in the air.
It was such an innocent time for me.
Funny how now, I still would like to play in that
Time again.

Less familiar is the story an Italian tourist will be able to tell about his encounter this week with Alaska's favorite big-nosed icon.
Ippolito Gallovich, 51, was parked on the shoulder of a road watching a moose when the animal decided to jump over his car.
Unfortunately for the moose and Gallovich's rented 2003 Lincoln Town Car, the ungulate misjudged the distance. Instead of clearing the car, the moose landed on the windshield, breaking it. The animal then scrambled back to the pavement and disappeared into the woods.
The police report concludes: "The moose failed to clear the vehicle. ... No citations were issued."

[b]TORONTO [/b]- No surgery has been scheduled for a five-year-old boy who was shot in the face with a high-powered pellet gun, doctors in Toronto said Monday.
The boy is now listed in fair condition at the Hospital for Sick Children after the shooting Sunday outside the Molson Indy.
Police say Kadin Kendall was at a bus stop with his mother along with the post-race crowd in Toronto's waterfront area when he was shot.
The pellet was fired from a moving car and lodged in the boy's brain, entering just above his right eye.
He has retained vision in the eye and will not require surgery to remove the pellet at this time, said a hospital spokesperson.
A 27-year-old man was also hit in the forearm with a pellet during the 30-minute shooting spree. He was treated in hospital, said police.
Three suspects were reportedly arrested as their car was stuck in traffic.
Two 18-year-old males and a 17-year-old male appeared in court Monday in connection with the shooting. Jake Joseph Mercure and Stephen Collins are charged with aggravated assault and discharging an air pistol with intent to wound.
The 17-year-old cannot be identified.

The American Psychiatric Association has a connotation of prestige, scholarly thought and authority. Just invoking the APA’s ideas on a particular subject usually ends a dispute. That should be changing soon.
Most everyone who can think clearly pretty much dismissed the recently published book “Harmful to Minors,” subtitled, “The Perils of Protecting Children From Sex,” by Judith Levine, even though the forward of the book was written by Dr. Joycelyn Elders, the Clinton Administration’s Surgeon General and published by the University of Minnesota. After all, the book was espousing the virtues of sexual relations between adults and children. It was ridiculous, absurd and contemptible. And in spite of the denials by the author and Joycelyn Elders, the book was clearly off base, disgusting, immoral and could only be acceptable to sexual deviates. At least that is what people who can think, thought.
However, according to a June 11, 2003 article on CNSNews.com entitled “Psychiatric Association Debates Lifting Pedophilia Taboo,” the APA may be removing the term “mental disorder” when describing pedophiles. It seems the folks who decide who is mentally ill and what it takes to be thought of that way, need to debate whether or not adults who seek out children for sexual partners should be continued to be considered mentally ill or as APA members Psychiatrist Charles Moser of San Francisco's Institute for the Advanced Study of Human Sexuality and Peggy Kleinplatz of the University of Ottawa say, are “People whose sexual interests are atypical, culturally forbidden or religiously proscribed should not necessarily be labeled mentally ill.”
For the psychiatrists, men and women who seek out little children are merely displaying a natural, but not necessarily abnormal desire. That has got to be scary for all the rest of us Americans. Mental Health experts viewing adults who are sexually attracted to children as normal speaks volumes about the people who, up to now, make the rules on who is mentally disturbed.
The CNSNews article continues to explain that the APA may view pedophiles as not “psychologically unhealthy.” The folks over at the APA are also having some difficulty in deciding whether GID (gender identity disorder) is really a “disorder.”
It doesn’t take a whole lot of common sense to figure out that if a particular “lifestyle” were practiced by all, and if allowed to go unabated would end all human life on earth, should in fact be classified as a “disorder.” Unfortunately for us mere mortals, the “experts” over at the APA can’t muster enough common sense to figure that out for themselves. It appears they are so caught up in political correctness or pressured by groups espousing the virtues of sexual depravity or in the case of GID, the virtues of indecision over treatment, they have caved in, or far more frightening, really believe sexual deviance is merely an “alternative lifestyle.”
Though, there was an objection to the APA simply deciding that pedophiles are “normal,” at the convention held for that purpose on May 19, 2003, in San Francisco. According to CNSNews, “A. Dean Byrd, vice president of the National Association for Research and Therapy of Homosexuality (NARTH) and a clinical professor of medicine at the University of Utah, condemned the debate.” Actually, he seemed to disagree with “normalizing” the pedophiles because he wouldn’t get grants to study them if they were no longer considered mentally ill, “What this does, in essence, is it has a chilling effect on research,” Byrd said. “That is, once you declassify it, there's no reason to continue studying it. What we know is that the paraphilias really impair interpersonal sexual behavior...and to suggest that it could be 'normalized' simply takes away from the science, but more importantly, has a chilling effect on research.” For some reason, most folks probably have a tendency to believe that a “normal” person at the convention would have objected to the APA declassifying pedophiles as mentally ill, on other grounds.
The article points to one such individual named Linda Ames Nicolosi, NARTH (National Association for Research and Therapy of Homosexuality) publications director who points to the obvious, “If pedophilia is deemed normal by psychiatrists, then how can it remain illegal?” Adding, “It will be a tough fight to prove in the courts that it should still be against the law.”
The article points out that in an APA “Fact Sheet” from October 1997, the APA said, “An adult who engages in sexual activity with a child is performing a criminal and immoral act that never can be considered normal or socially acceptable behavior.” However, the APA has not rendered a decision on a person who is a pedophile, but has not molested a child. In other words, the APA is sure you are mentally ill if you are sexually attracted to small children and actually act on that feeling, but they aren’t sure if you are mentally ill if you just have those feelings but don’t give in to them and actually molest a child or children.
Well, it would seem that the people who have followed in the footsteps of Sigmund Freud, B.F. Skinner, Carl Jung, and Erik Erickson, all truly great minds and professionals in the science of psychiatry, are in actuality in desperate need of psychiatric help themselves. But, with the great ones no longer with us, who is there to treat them?
Times sure have changed for the folks at the APA, not surprisingly though; the times haven’t changed that much for the rest of us.

| The War on America |

America is at war with terrorism. While to many, it seemed the logical result because terrorists declared war on America, for some, it was a step too far. Why would anyone believe that America’s war against terrorism was a bad idea? In light of September 11, 2001, it would seem to be a rather good idea for us now and for our children’s safety in the future.
By now we all know about the hate-America crowd. They are just about in every place that wields some kind of influence over public opinion. American universities are havens for vile anti-Americanism. Our newspapers and other media are filled with “journalists” who will promote the obvious fabrications of America’s enemies as a perspective on the same level and as a moral equivalent to American understanding. All the while emphasizing the negative and minimizing positive aspects of America.
City Councils, Congresspersons and other American leaders are spewing forth the notion that America as it is, and what it really was, is an evil on this world. When America went to war against the terrorists; we went to war with groups who, by and large agree with the contemptible rhetoric coming from Americans in our universities, media, and even some of our leaders. Is it any wonder why they, all of them, opposed the war against the evil regime in Iraq and the war on terrorism?
Instead of war, the American-haters wanted America to view the declaration of war made on America as mere rhetoric and the attacks on America, whether it was the bombing and murders in American embassies overseas, the attack on the U.S.S. Cole or the slaughter of three thousand Americans as merely a matter for the police. There were no enemies of America, just criminals and law breakers who could be singled out for their specific acts, not their rhetoric. If that were the case, the America haters are safe behind their first amendment rights. They could call themselves “patriots,” for their dissent.
Michael Medved reported in the National Review Online about how even comic book writers are now standing with the terrorists who wish America’s demise. In an April 4, 2003, article entitled “Captain America, Traitor?” Mr. Medved pointed out that even the once venerable Marvel comic book hero Captain America has turned on America and the American people. The “new” Captain America voices only apologies for America’s past foreign policy and he refuses to rebut even the most vile anti-Americanism coming from terrorists. The Left, like they claimed the dreaded tobacco industry has done, is targeting our children.
Like good soldiers, the Left infiltrated every important life aspect of their enemy. America cannot be breached from the outside, so the Left chose the insidious placing of their spokespeople throughout our media, in our schools, in entertainment and now even in comic books. Whether the Left has useful idiots or the rank and file, the result is the same. Americans in broken record mode, spewing anti-American vile. This is no longer just war overseas, it is not just a matter of homeland security, it is a war for the hearts and minds of Americans.
The good news is, as we all know, the Left’s motives were exposed early. American polls show that nearly 8 out of 10 Americans are supportive of America’s war effort.
That does not necessarily mean that 80% of Americans are unaffected by the subtleties of the Left’s message and cannot be swayed further in that direction. The Left wants us to know that the world by and large hates us. They claim that it is our fault. We are told it is not the American people that are hated, but rather it is our foreign policy. All we need to do is change our foreign policy to the wishes of the “world street” and they will like us.
All we need to do is become less American, and more inter nationalistic in our ways, and we won’t be hated so much. If we could only abandon our principals, turn our backs on traditional friends in favor of the folks who now hate us, all would be better.
All we need to do is not be who we are.
The Left has an agenda. It is clear from their ranting that America remaining a superpower is an obstacle. However, the Left also knows that America warring against terrorism and despotic regimes is not just a detriment to their cause because American victories will enhance Americanism and not internationalism, it is also a threat to the far Left’s existence.
The Left knows that it is just a matter of time before Americans begin to see that the rhetoric coming from America’s enemies abroad is the same rhetoric coming from America’s Left. While the useful idiots may not know what horrors they are fomenting in their service to the Left’s leaders, it really doesn’t matter, the effect is the same.
What the Left does not want anyone to know is that the millions of America-haters abroad were not born that way. They had to be taught. It is only a handful of people who regulate the media or who have power in those foreign lands. Public opinion is shaped abroad, and is not based on fact. Trying to win the hearts and minds of the populations of other countries is an uphill battle when truth is looked upon by the “elite” of those countries with contempt. Our target should be focused on the elite, not the population. Once the “directors” are turned, the population will follow.
While every true American will agree that the freedoms bestowed on all Americans must be upheld, cherished and defended; it must be equally agreed to that certain acts are not an exercise of the freedom of speech or any other guarantee endowed on all Americans. Certain acts, certain behaviors must be called what they are, and in many cases the Left’s claim of acting and speaking in the best interest of American tradition is nothing more than a performance in sedition.

The American Library Association (ALA), our librarians, are entrusted with the books and reference materials chronicling the world’s development. Basically, if you are a librarian you have seen it all. Unfortunately, the librarians want everyone else to see it all also, even our children.
Libraries used to be thought of as safe-havens for our children. It is unlikely that most parents give a second thought about their children’s moral safety when they are dropped off at the library for an afternoon of study. However, just about every library nowadays has computer terminals, and internet connections. Also in this day and age, everyone knows that the internet can, in addition to being a tremendous tool in a students search for knowledge, be a place where virtually every perversion and pornographic impulse can be indulged by a vast number of “adult” websites.
Still, we needn’t worry; our ever vigilant and ever watchful librarians would never allow smut to permeate the hallowed halls of America’s study rooms. Then again, librarians are not necessarily what they have been cracked up to be. Not even when it comes to caring about the filth that may be viewed by the children of America on the library’s computer terminals.
Recently, the government wisely wanted to put “filters” on library computers so that children, young and old, would have offensive pornographic “adult” websites blocked. CIPA (Children’s Internet Protection Act) was introduced as a law to ensure that. Inexplicably, at least for people who can think and have a moral compass, the librarians declared that they didn’t like that idea one bit. In fact, the ALA spent millions of dollars fighting the idea of electronically blocking vile pornography from the computer terminals used by children in our libraries.
The ALA arguments against CIPA were many, but basically they boiled down to their perception that blocking pornographic websites was an infringement on the first amendment. Though, it was a bit of an odd argument coming from the folks who kept “men’s” magazines and other pornographic magazines and books off the library shelves of virtually every library in the nation. It makes you wonder how willingly they were engaged in that earlier pedestrian endeavor.
In any case, the Supreme Court agreed with the government of the United States and all parents who care about their kids, and against the librarians. The librarians lost their fight to keep pornography available to any child who used a computer terminal at the library. But, the librarians are still really ticked off about it.
On their website, ALA.Org, the librarians, on June 23, 2003, posted an article entitled, “ALA denounces Supreme Court ruling on Children’s Internet Protection Act,” expressing their displeasure with the Supreme Court’s ruling. “The American Library Association (ALA) today expressed disappointment in today’s very narrow decision from the U.S. Supreme Court upholding the Children’s Internet Protection Act.”
The ruling was 6-3. In other words, it was a two to one romp. But, for librarians it somehow became “narrow” because, “Justices Kennedy and Breyer did not join Chief Justice Rehnquist's opinion, they only joined the judgment,” which is pretty amazing coming from Judith Krug, who is the director of the American Library Association’s Office for Intellectual Freedom.
Imagine, for librarians, voting for something is not seen as quite authentic because you didn’t express yourself in other ways. Thinking like that explains much about the ALA’s mindset or lack thereof.
In their grief over losing the important right for all youngsters to view pornographic websites, the ALA is lashing out and demanding, “Full disclosure of what sites filtering companies are blocking, who is deciding what is filtered and what criteria are being used.”
It seems the folks from our friendly neighborhood library who were fighting the government in the Supreme Court to keep pornography available for all who use the library, lost, but still feel they are the most qualified to decide what is “good” for our children.
The ALA is demanding that they have the last say as to what websites are blocked from prying eyes and which are not. How comforting for all parents. Parents already have it tough enough raising their kids in a world that is anything but kid friendly.
The notion that our public libraries are being run by folks who see their role as being anti-government and selfishly devoted to some abstract concept of what free speech entails at the expense of the emotional and moral health of our children, should bring pause to virtually every mother and father and child’s guardian across the land.
The librarians view themselves as soldiers in a war against infringements on the first amendment; in fact, they seem to see themselves as duty bound to fight our government. Chief Justice William Rehnquist, explained in the Court’s decision, “Appellees [Librarians] mistakenly contend…, filtering conditions distort the usual functioning of public libraries…, public libraries have no role that pits them against the government, and the interest in protecting young library users from material inappropriate for minors is legitimate, and even compelling… all Members of the Court appear to agree.”
Sadly, the librarians seem to be only speaking for themselves and the fringe Left, and not for parents or even the libraries’ patrons. What possible good can be found with the allowance of hardcore pornography on library computer terminals? What parent, at least a caring parent would side with the decision by the ALA to fight to keep pornography in libraries?
The ALA has taken many controversial stands in the past, some of which can be described as not very patriotic. However, the thought that the people we entrust with our children after school, during study time, fought to keep pornography from being blocked at the library is just plain disgusting.
While it is true that not all librarians are members of the ALA, over 60,000 are. It would be nice to think that it is just the upper echelon of the ALA that is willing to use the utterly dubious argument that blocking hardcore pornography from their computer terminals is somehow “infringing” on the first amendment, but it is not likely.
The law as it now stands, allows the filters to be turned off if requested by an adult patron. It also allows unobjectionable websites which are mistakenly blocked, to be unblocked when discovered by the library. Yet, the ALA still chose to express their “disappointment” over a decision that is, by any sense of decency, a good decision that is geared to protect our children from the perversions of the many triple X rated websites on the internet.
The ALA says they also believe in protecting our children from offensive websites, but, like many people without integrity, principals or uprightness, they talk the talk, but they don’t walk the walk. In fact, many libraries are willing to forego federal funding and ignore the Supreme Court’s ruling. Thereby continue to have pornography available for all our children to view at their leisure.
For instance, the Los Angeles city libraries, according to an article in the News-Sentinel on June 25th, is not be accepting any federal grants so that they may presumably allow pornography to be displayed at the library. The Napa Valley Register reports that Napa libraries will also not be paying any attention to the Supreme Court’s ruling. In a June 24th, article the Napa News reports that a reporter was quite capable of viewing “images of nude women for several minutes with nary a peep from the busy librarian.” The article also quoted Napa library director Janet McCoy as saying, “We feel that the best filter is human intervention.”
It does make one wonder and not just about the obvious. By not accepting federal money, the libraries are saying that they are willing to forego the services and books that money would have bought so that they may continue to provide pornography for their patrons. To paraphrase the Bard, something is rotten at the ALA. Will the money not taken from the government be subsidized by the porno sites?
The bottom line is that the people guarding our books, the members of the ALA should not be entrusted with watching our children. Not ever. Additionally, the libraries that forego federal funds to ensure the continued transmission of pornography to their computer terminals should also forego having the phrase “public library” to describe themselves. They are in effect, not suitable places for our children any longer.

| Guard Dog Keeps Firefighters Away from Burning Property |

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The dog days of summer came early for firefighters who were delayed in extinguishing a $350,000 blaze not for lack of water or helping hands - but for Fido.
Firefighters ran into a guard dog with an exceptional sense of duty when a fire broke out in a vacant building.
The heat from the inferno was so intense that it ignited camper shells at a neighboring business, but a 100-pound Rottweiler kept firefighters at bay, patrolling a 3-foot space between the chain-link fence and burning camper shells.
As the department waited for an animal-control officer to respond, a couple firefighters quickly removed undamaged property under the protection of an 800 gallon-a-minute jet of water that could fend off an attack without harming the dog.
Within minutes, animal control arrived and corralled the dog. The dog wasn't injured and was left to resume its duties after the fire was extinguished.

Many of us are familiar with the story about the frog and the frying pan. If you slowly turn up the heat, a frog in a frying pan won’t notice it is being cooked until it is too late.
While America was basking in the “warmth,” of the post cold war, the liberals were taking over our institutions. We now have a media, newspapers, major networks, public broadcasting, universities and state houses, all run by the Left. Even the judiciary is inundated with Left leaning individuals. The Left cannot get a majority of Americans to vote in their “progressive” agenda, so they plan to legislate and through enacted laws, develop an America they envision and a new world order.
Fact is, America has already lost much of its standing in the world, and virtually all of its prestige in the eyes of the less fortunate around the globe, not because of something America did, but rather because the enemies of America, right here inside of America, want their own country to be held in scorn and disdain by the rest of the world.
Naturally, for most Americans that appears to be a self-defeating agenda. However, on closer examination it falls in lockstep to the Leftist notion of one nation, one world. America cannot stand out as a leader if the Left is to achieve “oneness” among all of earth’s inhabitants. So, rather than trying to elevate others to America’s level, the Left has determined it better to lower America’s standing.
Unfortunately, the democrats have grabbed the baton and are running with it. The Left has based their strategy on the notion that America is a racist, imperialist nation out to conquer all others. They won’t say it straight out, they couldn’t and still hope to win anything more than a local seat in government. Instead, they have infiltrated various state governments, and the judiciary to pass laws which in effect give credence to their unstated agenda.
Is it any wonder that for the first time in the history of the United States, democrats are filibustering President Bush’s judicial nominations? Forget “advise and consent,” the democrats are bound and determined to ensure a judiciary, especially a Supreme Court, that is Left friendly.
University professors in the latest poll are overwhelming in their support of Leftist ideals. Colleges and universities across the country are turning out a group of graduates inundated with the Left’s vision of what America is. Virtually every institution of higher education in the United States has classes in various studies of different ethnic groups. All of these classes espouse the virtues of the group they are teaching about. Now, some schools have begun classes regarding whites. These classes are unlike their counterparts, they bash whites as a “privileged” class who dominated others through force.
On a recent MSNBC airing of Scarborough Country, Joe Scarborough interviewed a professor who is teaching some of America’s young on “Whiteness Studies.” Doctor Arlene Avakian teaches a whiteness course at the University of Massachusetts, and told Mr. Scarborough, America “is a white supremacist country.” Adding, that America is not the best country on earth, rather “if you look at the Scandinavian countries, they are way far light-years ahead of us. If you look at many of the European countries, they are way far ahead of us. There is no question about it.” For the professor, for many of America’s teachers, America is a country we all need to be ashamed of. In spite of the fact that Scandinavia and Europe would all be under Germany’s Nazi rule had it not been for America. The good professor wants us all to only see what she wants us to see.
It is natural to react with questioning why these professors choose to remain in the United States if it is such a horrid country, but that would only be an appropriate question if the professors believed what they were teaching; they do not. If they did, it is obvious that no one is holding their passports and preventing them from leaving, yet they choose to stay.
The fact is, they have an agenda. They need to teach another generation of Americans that America is not great. They need to export that notion to various other peoples around the world so as to instill anger at the United States. They need to inculcate Americans to believe it is us who have it wrong when we believe America is the greatest country on earth, and those that hate America have good reason to feel that way.
No one is bringing up the obvious fact that virtually all the people around the world who hate America have had no actual contact with America. Why would a farmer in Khartoum have any strong feelings against America? Why would a civil servant in Southern Luxembourg care one bit about American history or present intentions? They would not, unless told otherwise. Think about it. How many people in Montana or Pennsylvania have strong feelings, good or bad, about the general population living in Kiribati? As a people we would only feel strongly if we were told to feel strongly. Mostly, we could care less. However, even not caring is held against an America that as far as the Left is concerned needs to be brought down a few pegs.
Basically, America is too prosperous a nation with too many talented people. Unfortunately, the Left is seeing that that does not remain the case. The Left has had control of our educational institutions for decades now and the dumbing down process began in earnest years ago. We already have rocket scientists who can’t figure out how and when to convert from miles to kilometers and caused two Mars probes to crash. We have paleontologists who have forgotten what theories are and have made pronouncements about the end of the dinosaurs as if it were fact. We have prevailing theories about DDT, global warming, and even second hand smoke in spite of actual evidence to the contrary.
While we all were taught to revere the medical profession; anyone know of a disease that is actually cured by doctors? We all make fun of the fact that “they” can’t even cure the common cold, but can “they” cure measles, chicken pox, mumps, or any common disease that doesn’t have a bacterial component in a consistent and overwhelming manner? How about a cure for arthritis or muscular dystrophy?
Since penicillin and the related antibiotics in the fifties, can anyone name a childhood disease that is cured by medicines, and not just vaccinated against? How about a disease that has been cured by medicine in the last 30 years? Just a note, Edward Jenner developed an effective vaccine against smallpox in 1796. Nowadays we seem content with vaccines and better ways of finding out what is killing us (diagnostics), rather than the actual curing of disease, but we are consistently told, “we are on the brink of discovery,” or the best; if we walk a few miles, we are doing our part to cure breast cancer. It is more likely that our walking and matching funds will be putting in a new pool for a researcher rather than finding a cure for anything. A medical “breakthrough” today is a new drug that helps alleviate some symptoms and even may shorten the duration of a disease, but no one seems to be saying “cure” in any of their sentences describing any medical “breakthrough.”
Basically, we don’t expect as much as we should, and the medical profession lives down to our standards. Of course you can point out the fact that Europeans and others have not found any cures for anything either, but that assumes we are no better than they are, which is what anti-Americanism is all about. Then there are our technology pros.
European nations are virtually inundated with nuclear power, but America is in effect prevented from developing the same, yet the Europeans are applauded for their clean environments, and America condemned because of the state and condition of it’s environment.
America is in a war against terrorism, and we will win against the people that fly planes into buildings, but, in the war against a far more dangerous and insidious enemy – Americans who see our borders as a barrier to their goal of eliminating America’s present standing, we may not have a chance

Driver Repeatedly Runs Over Pedestrian Before Speeding Off
SAN FRANCISCO - A motorist in San Francisco ran down a pedestrian, laughed and then repeatedly drove over him before speeding away, leaving stunned witnesses scrambling to help the victim, police said.
The gruesome attack came three days after a similar incident outside a nightclub that left a man clinging to life. The driver in the first incident turned himself in to police, authorities said.
Police and witnesses were stunned by the viciousness of the crime, which they believe was an intentional attack, and the callousness of the suspect, who a witness said laughed hysterically.
"It was really disturbing, definitely the most disturbing thing I've seen," said one witness who did not want his name used. "It was disgusting. This guy did everything on purpose. He wasn't crying, he was laughing."

The 21st century for many was going to be a new beginning for the world. Peace and prosperity, a fantastic economy, jobs for everyone and advances in technology that would make most folks’ head spin. Then there was September 11th. It really did happen and it really did matter. It was horrific and it changed perceptions of what the future holds for all of us. While many on the Left would like us all to either forget that horrible day, or belittle its affect, they cannot.
Many people after the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon (including flight 93), began a campaign of disinformation claiming that if we did anything different, the terrorists win. If we put more police on the street, the terrorists win. If we attack Afghanistan, the terrorists win. If we fought back against terrorists, the terrorists win. If we buy duct tape, the terrorists win. The best was the Left claiming that if we fought terrorism and killed a bunch of terrorists, the terrorists would get even angrier and want to do more harm.
The Left seems to want all of us to believe that the killing of Americans by terrorists hadn’t happened before as on September 11th, the USS Cole, the Khobar Towers, etc., and would only start if we “attacked” the terrorists. As far as the Left was concerned, the only thing that we could do was surrender.
In other words, if we did nothing, if we allowed terrorists to enter our country freely, if we just allowed our country to be attacked, our people slaughtered in the streets, then we win and the terrorists lose. It made sense to no one but Sean Penn, Janeane Garrafalo and a whole lot of people in San Francisco.
We did attack and defeat the Taliban in Afghanistan and in so doing; the terrorists no longer have a sanctuary there. Many were killed and many were captured and to date, nothing like September 11th has been repeated. Saddam Hussein and his brutal regime were removed from power in Iraq and for the first time the people of Iraq have a chance to live their lives in freedom and peace. America is no longer subject to the whims of that brutal dictator’s aspiration for more power and ties to terrorists.
Here at home, we have greater security when we travel by air, and our borders have been tightened up a bit. We also have the Patriot Act. The U.S.A.P.A. was signed by President Bush on October 26, 2001 in direct response to the new reality of terrorists who declared war on the United States; and who were acting on that declaration and killing Americans and trying to destroy our institutions, industries and our economy. The terrorists want to end our way of life.
The USA Patriot Act is just one tool in an arsenal of means to combat the threat to America. Unfortunately, the people making the most noise against the Act are Americans.
The USAPA is in actuality a compilation of about 15 existing statutes that have been reworked to fit the 21st century. Though, to hear its critics, “ordinary Americans have taken a tremendous blow with this law.” Some, like Bill Moyers of PBS fame has said that the present administration is engaged in a “deliberate, intentional destruction of the United States of America.” It would be enlightening for all if any of these critics could point to any specific law abiding American citizen whose rights have been denied to their actual detriment.
We all get to hear generalities, blanket condemnations and even laws passed by a town in California that makes it illegal to comply with the USA Patriot Act, but why? Who in America need fear a law that makes being an enemy of America, a terrorist, a target of American justice?
The USA Patriot Act permits the government to make an application, based on intelligence of criminal activity, to a judge of competent jurisdiction to issue an order allowing the surveillance of internet use by computer “trespassers.” The Act defines trespassers as individuals who without authorization, communicate from a protected computer. After all, it is known that terrorists use the internet and that monitoring their use of it can help in stopping the next terrorist attack. Who in America has to worry about having intelligence on them concerning terrorist activity, leading to surveillance? Why would any law abiding citizen be against that?
The Patriot Act also allows roving wiretaps. Terrorists use different cell phones and different computers to communicate with. Roving wiretaps follow the suspected terrorist, rather than the phone. It makes sense to every one except people on the fringe Left. Also under the Act, ISP’s are relieved of liability for disclosing an internet user’s information in the event that the provider believes that an emergency involving immediate danger of death or serious physical injury justifies the disclosure. How awful for the Left, the bad guys can’t sue the ISP.
The Act also gives the Attorney General authority to obtain foreign students’ names, addresses, visa status, academic status, criminal record, etc. and relieves the educational institutions of any liability for the release of information to the Attorney General. The Act also allows the FBI to ask Librarians to hand over the activity list of suspected terrorists who use the library as a base for communications and research.
Terrorists have used and currently use student visas to gain entry into the US, and have in fact taken advantage of our own laws to avoid detection after entry into this country, and terrorists are known to use our libraries; how does the federal government’s knowledge of “foreign students” on American soil and their whereabouts, or what activities suspected terrorists were up to in our libraries infringe on American civil liberties?
Now, the second wave of hysteria is being heard from the Left and others who need to pay more attention to the reality on the ground rather than the ethereal. The Attorney General is asking for an expansion of the Patriot Act. The “expansion” involves closing loopholes in the present law and adding the death penalty for terrorist acts. Attorney General Ashcroft was grilled by the democrats at a hearing in Washington on June 5, 2003, in spite of the fact that the present Patriot Act, according to a report in the Red Bluff Daily News, “terrorist financial infrastructures had been shut down, and more than 1,000 international terrorists and spies targeted over the past year, including alleged terrorist cells in Buffalo, N.Y., Seattle, Portland, Oregon, and Detroit that led to convictions.”
The democrats seemed more concerned with the deportation of illegal aliens than the fact that terrorists had declared war on the United States. For the democrats, September 11th was far in the past, and to allow Americans to actually be affected by and to do something about terrorist activity was out of the question.
It is all but impossible to find a time in the history of the United States or virtually anywhere else in the world, except maybe France, where a country was attacked, its people killed and war declared by an enemy where nothing was done, and their population not asked to change any part of their lives to combat the foe.
Basically, if you are told that anything you do different after war has been declared will be seen as a victory for your enemy; is in effect saying that “resistance is futile;” you have already lost the war. Why the Left and many democrats want Americans to believe that, is the subject of a different article, suffice it to say, as Americans we need not accept the rationalizations of the Left and the terrorists’ “reasons” for blowing up buildings and murdering innocent Americans.
In any case, America is under attack and is at war. We need to fight and we need to do so on many fronts, and in many ways. Making laws that target the enemies of America is a “good thing,” as is accepting that what we took for granted before 9-11, must not be taken for granted ever again.
The making of new laws and the revamping of old laws, to toughen them up and help thwart future terrorist acts as was done in the Patriot Act, is the very least we can do for America now, and help ensure freedom and the American way of life for our children in the future

Many city and local governments have passed ordinances, which in effect, prohibit the police from enforcing federal immigration laws. The federal government, our Congress has just said, “way to go!”
Most folks without an agenda pretty much understand that illegal immigration is a bad thing. In their infinite wisdom, our leaders have, over the years, formulated a series of requirements and necessary conditions on foreign nationals who want to come to this country to live or visit. While there may have been an argument in the past that correctly labeled some of the immigration restrictions as discriminatory, that is no longer the case. The immigration laws nowadays are in place to ensure that America as a whole is better off whenever someone is approved to have a visa.
People who circumvent our immigration or any other laws are criminals. People, mainly folks who may not have the best interest of the United States at heart, want to call immigration criminals by another name, “undocumented” workers. Nevertheless, a rotten egg by any other name, still stinks. The INS, the Border Patrol, federal law enforcement across the land have all taken an oath to uphold the laws of this great land; so have local police departments. Even the members of Congress have sworn to do the same.
Basically, they lied.
Actually, the Border Patrol is trying to fulfill their job description, but they are undermined at every turn. You would think after 9-11, mindsets would have changed; they haven’t, in fact, just the opposite. Now, the people that want open borders, amnesty for all illegal immigrants and the relegating of the United States to being just another third world nation, or worse, to be like Canada, are calling the shots. If someone even mentions border control, they jump into action and begin doing what they do best, name calling. And not just any name calling, they simply accuse others of being like themselves. They call people who demand our laws be enforced, “unpatriotic.” If someone says that illegal immigration is “dangerous,” they inexplicably claim that 9-11 is no excuse to “discriminate” against undocumented workers. Logic, reason and just plain common sense are in no way acceptable or tolerated by the Left.
The Homeland Security $30 billion dollar budget was approved by Congress last Tuesday. At last, much needed federal funding would be allocated to various municipalities across our great nation. Just before the bill was approved by Congress, Representative Tom Tancredo tried to add an amendment to the bill that he and most honest Americans would believe would make it an even more effective measure. Congressman Tancredo wanted the bill to only allocate Homeland Security money to cities and towns that did not have ordinances which according to the Washington Times story on June 26, 2003, “do not require their police to report illegal immigrants to the Immigration and Naturalization Service, even when they are arrested or convicted of crimes.” Mr. Tancredo explained, “It was simply a provision that required cities to enforce a federal law already on the books. This is the kind of thing that will become an issue at re-election time. I really don't know how anybody can defend that vote.”
When the measure came to a vote, 102 members of Congress voted for it (all Republican), and 322 members of Congress voted against it. Cities and towns can now collect their federal subsidies for homeland security and still keep their own law enforcement personnel from enforcing federal laws that help keep the homeland secure.
The arguments against having local law enforcement trying to manage illegal immigrants are many, but virtually every one of them is spurious at best. After 9-11, and contrary to what the hate-America crowd says, it is all the more important that we protect our borders more than ever. Our immigration laws are in place to keep America, America. There is no other country on the planet that has as many people wanting to populate its land than the United States. If the Left was to have its way, America would be reduced to being a series of Bantustans, with each particular group encouraged to maintain their own culture without embracing America itself, as American culture, as the Left is so fond of saying, is based upon racism, colonialism and economic domination. Why would anyone want to pledge allegiance to a nation that college students are taught is the cause of world misery?
The Left was thought of by many to be a fringe element in American society. They were thought of as tree huggers who were more interested in saving the snail darter than in personal hygiene; not a serious threat to our way of life. Now however, even our Congress is willing to put aside America’s long term well-being for their personal short term success.
Americans are fast becoming an endangered species. While diversity can be a good thing, it can not be considered as such when to achieve it, we lose ourselves and our own identities in the process. Being inclusive in most endeavors is a noble cause. The reason to achieve it is what we need to keep our eyes on, rather than simply having a goal of achieving it.
All Americans are the children of immigrants (forced to come here or came here voluntarily), or were immigrants themselves, save the Native Americans. Regardless of ethnic background, or race, the one thing that should not be fair game for “diversity” seekers is the one thing that holds this country together, our sense of belonging and allegiance to America, and just as important, our faith and belief that America is the land of opportunity, freedom and what is good about human-kind.
America for Americans is a place to be cherished and to be defended and not to be trashed by the likes of college professors who but for America, would be unable to spew their venom. We need to take back our country and hold the members of Congress who voted against upholding laws that were emplaced to protect all of us, accountable for their vote and their turning their backs on all Americans.

Well today was a shock for me, I know to ALL American's rather you're born here or from abroad, one of the most important things we have the right to is Freedom of spech, Correct. No where or what you're discussing the fact that we as americans have that freedom. When I heard that a very open minded talk show host, was fired for speakin his mind, and mind you the fact this is what he had been hired for. Here is the exact comment and reason for him being fired.

The Hollywood Reporter online reports Savage made derogatory comments against gays on his show Saturday night. In the exchange, Savage told the caller, "Oh, you're one of the sodomites. You should only get AIDS and die, you pig." [/b][/i]

When we are born that right is givin to use, or in some cases when u get your citizenship you get the right. Now as an american myself born and raised, I enjoy the fact that i can speak my mind no matter what. Now when has it come that "Comments" are rights to termination.. I think all person that have a comment should voice it, ther it be correct or uncorrect. But why is it that we can voice or opinions but when we make opinion or comment to a "Gay" person that is instantly an insult to all people. I don't care who you are, you have the right to make your statement!

That’s exactly what happened to me a few years ago. It was a Christmas dinner…and I bit my tongue so hard that…I ended up at the hospital getting stitches in my tongue.
Not something I’d want to do again.
And that’s why a story the other day about the latest trend in body piercing has me even more baffled than usual. Did you hear about this?
A 25 year old guy in New York, already with a bone through his nose and a pierced face, sits in a tattoo parlor, closes his eyes and lets a friend split his tongue down the middle with a scalpel.
That’s right, according to the story from Reuter’s, the latest trend among teens and 20-somethings who indulge in so-called extreme body modification is now splitting one's tongue like a serpent's. It’s an art form," says T.J. McGillis, who offers the service for 250-bucks.
The editor of a magazine devoted to body modification says the number of people with split tongues is estimated at close to 2,000.
Now is this sick or what? And probably unsafe and dangerous.
That’s why a few U.S. state legislatures have now moved to ban the tongue-splitting procedure.
But it begs the question…why? Why would someone do something so sick?
Of course, it’s already pretty common these days to walk around and see people with rings piercing their nose, chin, eyebrow, and, yes, tongue. And for those who don’t like the traditional pierced earring, there’s now the half-dollar size job that makes your ear lobe expand like an orangutan’s.
I know one thing. It used to be you had to go to a circus and pay to see a freak show. Now it’s right down the street at the shopping mall.

It is America's policies that have led to the Muslim extremism worldwide? How do we proliferate violence among Shiites and Sunnis? Iraqi fundamentalists murdered their own countrymen at their police academy graduation - can we blame ourselves for this one two? The fact is, suicide and homicide bombing is an integral philosophy and tactic of Muslim fundamentalists, regardless of the target of their hatred. Instead of studying the enemy and their dogma, we consistently blame ourselves. It is easier to play the blame game
